The Counterintuitive Nature of Healing
The first step to healing.
Healing is more than just a relief of pain or discomfort. The cessation of discomfort is usually the last thing that happens when we heal. What usually has to happen first, particularly if it's a long-term issue, is we have to come face-to-face with some serious issues in our life.

If we've been avoiding this issue for some time, then there is likely some serious resistance to the discomfort in our life. We probably have some fear, hatred, and long-term aggravation with the discomfort. We are probably pretty good at avoiding the discomfort.
Going right into the center of this pain, is the first step to healing. If we've been avoiding this for some time, it's going to take some serious courage and commitment on our part.
